My new Creality K1 arrived yesterday, been waiting a few months as it was a pre-order.

On the 600mm/s printing is unbelievable! Really impressive quality even at that speed. Not as noisy as I (or Mrs Jim) feared....

Only drawback is having to use the Creality slicer.

Its the lock-in that puts me off. Otherwise it seems great.

On my heavily modified Ender 3, the most annoying noise is the cooling fan (the noise doesn't annoy me at all but I share the room it is in). With the K1 enclosure... is fan noise less? Well, what source of noise is dominant/most annoying?

On the **LINK** website, it states that the K1 is Compatible with various slicer software such as Creality Print, Cura, Simplify3D, PrusaSlicer.

Ron,

Sadly not the case! I was disappointed at this, having used Cura for years.

There is a massive amount of start code, I was going to create my own Cura profile, but having had an afternoon playing around with the Creality slicer, it's much better than first appearance, so I will stick with it for now.

Done a couple more prints and I'm blown away by the quality of finish, it's better than both of my, much molded, Aldi printers and my Creality CR10 MAX ones I use at work and that is running 6 times faster on the same filament.

The Hyper PLA is good for 12x speed with the same quality.

I would definitely check that. Their website that Ron linked to is quite clear:

"Slicing Software: Creality Print; compatible with Cura, Simplify3D, PrusaSlicer"

I knew before I ordered that there would be an issue with Cura, having read up on the;'net, but the Creality software did have a slicer for the K1, which was the reason why I ordered.

I had given the new Pursa MK4 some serious thought, but on balance went with the K1 as a core xy printer.

Mrs Jimb did say this afternoon that it's much quieter than she thought, It must have helped showing her youtube clips at maximum volume..........

Having used the Creality slicer for a week, I have to say its very very close to Cura.

Having spent years with Cura, I did just want to carry on with it, right now, I'm not missing it!

I just got myself an Elegoo Neptune 3 pro. Never had a 3D printer before so this seemed a good starter one. Printing speed isnt fast but quality seems good.

Currently making some tool holders to tidy up the lathe a bit. Many thanks to the person who uploaded the file for use. Next thing is to get myself a copy of Fusion 360 and start learning.

Cura was a bit of a pain to setup but ended up copying some info from a post so I will see if it sorts out the issues I had.

How are you getting on with the K1? What's the print quality and machine build quality like?

I think I picked the wrong printer so may be looking to change mine already. Having issues with the extruder and bed temps staying where they were set. Extruder cooling fans started squealing already.

I'm really impressed with the print quality. The high speed really needs Creality "Hyper pla" to be successful, I had 4 rolls come yesterday as the results are worth it.

The build quality and Creality slicer are better than I expected.

Overall very happy.

Thanks Jimmy. I have arranged a return of mine, thankfully Amazon has a decent returns system, and ordered the K1.

Should arrive Thursday, hopefully when someone is home, and I'll be printing again by the weekend.

So the K1 arrived. Unboxed it removed packing and screws and went for a self test. It failed the first one with an internal error E002. Then it locked up after a rest. So power off for 20 mins while I had tea and tried again. Finished the self test ok but took around 15 minutes. Then printed the boat benchy. That printer is insanely fast. I think I will need to fit some ballast to the table it sits on.
