Handy Tip: On the few occasions I've had to machine Rubber-type materials like Neoprene, etc as a matter of routine I cold-soak them in the freezer overnight which results in a markedly harder material less prone to tearing and excessive deformation when cutting. If machining operations are to be protracted then periodic 'resting' the workpiece back in the freezer is advised.

You can use pipe freeze kit to spray on rubber to keep it solid.
