Hello,

I'm based near Brecon. I did mechanical engineering before doing computer software.

A few years ago my dad acquired some machines (lathe, surface grinder, tom senior m1 and a bridgeport turret mill). The machines had been sat unused for many years and were in a bit of a state. We cleaned the lathe and got the motor fixed. The bridgeport we did a complete stripdown and repaint restoration. Sadly, my dad passed away recently. He collected ME for many years and we had planned to build a steam engine. He always wanted to build a locomotive.

I thought that as I now have the machines I would get started on model engineering for him.

I'm interested in a Kerr Stuart 0-4-0ST Model. In particular I would like to track down information on a particular design

The particular engine was called 'Bulldog' and was a special low head room variant - this following link shows the acutal engine. It works number 2401

Does anyone know if any drawings exist for this variant?

Thanks

Nic

Welcome Nic, I can't help with the loco, but a trawl of suppliers of castings Etc may turn something up, Reeves, Blackgates Etc. Join a local club and you will find people who may be able to help you in your quest. Noel.

Hello Nic,

Welcome,

On a clear day I can see the Brecon Beacons from my front room in the Forest of Dean.

Not far from where I live and just outside Ross-on-Wye is Alan Keef Ltd. He has restored some Kerr Stuarts in the past. He does have open days and one year he had Stanhope there. Details of this engine can be had in "The story of Stanhope".

I hope this is of help.

Regards

Gray,

Ken swan did a kerr stuart 0-4-0 wren at some point, it may be similar with a different cab/saddle

Then there's the kerr stuart "victory", the bulldog may be a cut down version of that

arrangement

Your nearest club is probably Hereford (33 miles). The welsh clubs that I know of are all 50 or more miles from you, and not necessarily on such good roads. I used to live near the Hereford club, and it's well worth a visit. Take a look at Hereford Model Engineers website for more info.
