For the last 9 years, my workshop consisted of a kitchen table in a one bedroom London flat.

Now, after retiring to the Kent coast, I have my dream come true, my own dedicated workshop.

A former recording studio, it has plenty of power outlets and is warm and dry.

The machine bench-

The fitting bench (8 foot long)-

I have left one wall free. I'm going to install a small sink and drainer here-

It is still a novelty to me to be able to work any time of day and not have to clear everything up before dinner. The other half is quite pleased as well - no more swarf in the kitchen!

Hi Steve. Nice to have your own space. Now you can always go back to where you left off the last job.

regards

I'm in a similar position.

When I lived with my parents I had access to a fully stocked workshop with a Boxford lathe and a large knee mill.

When I moved out I moved into a small flat and all my equipment needed to be downsized (Cowells machines).

Sometime this year I'll be moving back into a new house with a 17 foot square garage. I can't wait! I certainly won't miss having to clean up every day!

Nice and airy and comfy with an awesome fitting bench, a fabulous upgrade

I've got a garage but winter is tough on the hands and feet
