Hello From Canada

Hello folks, new member here. Interested in anything mechanical with a focus on model engineering at the moment. Current project is a 1/6 scale model of my grandfathers steam launch he had many years ago. Hull is of yellow cedar planks, as per origional, a roberts type boiler fired with white gas, and a 5/8"x5/8" two cylinder engine to my design.

I also have plans and castings for a 3 1/2" gauge Hunslet "Spencer" and plans for a Durham and North Yorkshire traction engine to keep me busy for years to come!

Hi Alex,

No, I'm not a VIME member. We rarely get down to Victoria though have been to the SHAS facility a couple of times. My main modelling interest is stationary engines though I've also built cranes, winches, machine tools, boats and other models over the years.

It sounds like you have some really interesting projects going on. Your grandfather's steam launch model in 1/6 scale sounds like a fantastic and personal endeavor. The attention to detail with the use of yellow cedar planks and the roberts type boiler is impressive.
