Depends on how large of a stack of blocks you want to make. Gauge blocks used daily don't necessarily wring together all that strongly after a while. And wringing together a large stack becomes a game of chance. And depends on what you then need to do with the stack of gauge blocks. If you need to insert it into a large piece of precision machinery to set a large gap to a precision setting, you don't want all those blocks falling down inside the machinery so a clamp might be very handy. |
