Hello

I have just received the Stuart No9 casting set and have opened this to check contents and noticed that the valve chest cover has no Stuart logo cast into it, is this normal?

Many thanks

The “Stuartturnersteam.com” website shows examples with and without and also one with “Stuart Turner” on it . The maker’s own website shows it without ,presumably patterns got lost over the years and it was easier to make a plain replacement. Seems a shame, really

The S does not sit so well on a cover that is horizontal as the proportions ar ethe wrong way round.

If you did want an S or maybe an ST then part off a bit of iron bar, cut to shape with a piercing saw and stick the letters into the cover recess with JBweld and then machine flush with teh border.

Here's my sans serif "S" on a fabricated valve-chest cover. It's just a strip of 16g. sheet bent with pliers and soft soldered into a circular recess. Just to relieve the otherwise plain appearance.p1030205.jpg

As John has suitable initials, how about personalising the engine with his own logo:

I think I may try the "JH"
