Some time ago, in one of the ME postings to this site, someone gave a download link to a very usefull "Shop Calculator" or "Metal Shop Calculator" application. Can anybody help me by giving me a copy of the down load link. I have just bought a new computer and have not been able to transfer the programe from my old computer and after searching the forum and Google I can't find the link. I use it a lot and am now resigned to booting up my old (very slow) computer to use the app.

Hi Ady1, thanks for that. It's exactly what I am looking for. How do I change the .ex_ to .exe? I have downloaded the file but need help to open it. Don't know how or if I did it last time.

What is an EX_ file?

An EX_ file is a Windows executable file renamed from ".exe" to ".ex_". It contains the exact contents of an .EXE file. EX_ files are commonly found on installation CDs, where the installer must first rename the file before executing it.

More Information

Renamed EX_ files are useful for preventing accidental or unwanted execution in Windows. For example, if the user accidentally double-clicks the file, it will not execute by default.

To make an EX_ file executable, rename the ".ex_" extension to ".exe". You can now double-click the file like any other EXE file.

open the file manager

find the file and right click the file name

scroll down to rename and then edit the file name to change the EX_ to EXE.

If you cant see the .EX_ part of the file name you need to change the folder options

Go to options on the ribbon at the top of the folder
Goto View and scroll down to and unclick the 'hide extentions' option

Finally got there. Easy when you know what you are doing, not so for me with very little knowledge of computing. Thanks to all who helped.
