449 forum posts 72 photos | .In the absence of a smell-ometer and a lack of any firsthand experience of soya I am not in a position to provide much more information but if anything, I would describe it as being more industrial solvent like than food based. The smell has now largely worn off but it was all powerful when first removed from its wrapper and instantly noticed by other members of the family. As an aside it is quite apparent that the cover is a glossier product than previous issues and presumably is the source of the odour. |

![]() 7881 forum posts 397 photos | Sounds like it was the solvent in the ink not fully dried out before packaging up in plastic. Most likely being printed on a new (as in different) press along with new owners Morton's other mags. New newspapers "hot off the press" smell like that.
