On a tiny geared motor I have just purchased there are two threaded holes on the mounting plate which have an internal diameter of 1.1 mm would I be correct in thinking that is M1.4 mm thread size. I have nothing that small just thought I would check before I source some screws.

It's the most likely as M1.4 has a pitch of 0.3mm and usual rule of thumb is OD-pitch to get the tapping size.

Hi Ron,

As Jason says, most likely M1.4, in the past I have sourced such screws from my Optician. There is a table here, showing Metric Coarse and Fine thread data.

By the Tracy Tools table:

ISO Coarse only,

M1 X 0.25mm pitch

M1.1 X 0.25

M1.2 X 0.25

M1.4 X 0.3

M1.6 X 0.35

(M1.7 0.35)

M1.8 X 0.35

M2.0 X 0.4 and X (0.45).

Those in parentheses, "non-preferred"
