Hi

I have a Rexon ss-16sa scroll saw . I want to cut thin brass sheet up to 1 mm thick. Is this possible with this saw and if so what blade should I buy.

Cheers Mike

I don't have a power scroll-saw, but do a lot of sawing of non-ferrous metal from 0.4mm to 2mm thick with a piercing saw. If the Rexon will accept piercing saw blades then get a pack of them from any jewellers or clockmaking supplier. I've hand-pierced 1.2mm thick stainless with my piercing saw.

Looking at Axminster they have 59T blades, depends on wether the saw has pin or plain clamping. My saw has adaptors to take both types, not a Rexon. If I remember Axminster used to sell Rexon as I have a bench drill which I am sure I bought from them at a show at Warwick many moons ago.

Many thanks for info

Looking at the machine I think my Rexon takes both types of blade also.I will get a pack of piercing saw blades, worth a try .

Cheers Mike

It might be worth backing the metal with a bit of thin ply or similar to stop the metal bending when cutting.

I used to get my blades from hobbies in Norfolk and Squires in Bognor Regis. Both do mail order.
