Very much how I would have done it and a good example of using the CAM to generate the tool paths without having to write g-code which from my thread last week many feel you need to do. Would have been nice if he had shown the post processor and the many thousands of lines of g-code that it would have produced for those cuts.

I do when designing a part now think of what machine I will be making it on and a she mentions make internal fillets a bit larger than the cutting tool I plan to use so I don't get large tool engagement or if it can't be avoided just run slower/lighter cuts.

A bit surprising that Honda can’t supply those parts now, I assume they can’t as Stefan is batch making them. Our tool room sometimes did contract work and one job was an impeller but rather larger than a CX 500 one. It was around 3ft in diameter and about a foot deep. They decided to machine it on a Marwin Numerical controlled milling machine which had an Olivetti NC which ran from 8 hole punched paper tape. The Marwin was getting a bit long in the tooth and not a super reliable machine, the axes were all hydraulic rams but the table had a recirculating ball screw with hydraulic motor, the control for each axis hydraulics was a Moog valve. The Marwin was on its best behaviour and ran fautlessly for the 6 weeks that the machining took.

I am surprised that the Z axis angled cut for the blades was not roughed out when set up in the lathe to do the front central recessed bore, would considerably reduce the mill roughing program time.
