Hi everyone i have been putting this off for a long time as i know little about electronics.I have decided to convert my small mill to belt drive with the use of a treadmill motor.I have purchased this power board my potentiometer has three blue wires from what i understand they are wiper hi-lo but it all so has two black wires but i cannot figure out where they go.I believe they are to power the machine up as that is what happened when it was used originally.I all so have a E-stop button with 4 connectors on the back any help would be great.

Now … a photo of your potentiometer would be useful, Andrew

Thanks, Andrew

I would assume that the two black wires are connected to a built-in switch

… a few seconds with a multimeter should confirm.

I agree because the potentiometer has a click sound when rotated but where do these wires go ?

Hi
The drive you linked to has no facility to use a potentiometer with a switch. The potentiometer with switch will work if you just ignore the switch wiring. However you will loose bit of mechanical and electrical travel and thus control at the low speed end of the range. The potentiometer without switch would be a better choice.

As per Michaels comment. The 3 tags on the paxolin together will be the pot the other 2 will be an on/off switch. Noel.

Excellent is the DPST switch the switch i am referring to with the four connectors and does it matter which goes where as my switch does not have any symbols saying what's what

.

The switch in your photo appears to be of ‘open construction’ … so it shouldn’t take long to determine its connections.

DPST = Double Pole Single Throw

If you're unfamiliar with the terminology … this should help: **LINK**
