Tool steel suppliers UK

I could do with locating a good UK supplier of 10x10x100mm or 125 mm HSS tool steel.

I'm not sure about the far Eastern stuff if it's like everything else from there hence the question, and Ebay's very hit and miss unless it's branded stock.

Recommendations appreciated

My thanks.

Arc EuroTrade offer 10 x 10 x 100 toolbits in HSS-Co5.

Reference is 080-060-40110 Catalogue 11 list at £5.09 ea + p&p,,but prices may well have increased since the catalogue was printed.

Don't know the provenance, but would have no qualms whatsoever about dealing with Ketan.

MSC do Eclipse blanks though I have a feeling they may only do imperial size eg 3/8 and probably about £20.

The ARC ones that I have used seem to do what I ask of them

All my tool steel I have bought from ARC both Cobalt and non Cobalt and its all been fine with no issues, also the pricing is good. I think the 10mm square may be out of stock though so you would need to check.

For gauge plate, key and silver steel try Coventry Grinders. They also supply all manner of grinding wheels too.

I think that 10 by 10 might be harder to get because of its use in the Paul Sellers router design.

Keith,

Not from a number some UK suppliers of HSS toolbits!

Make ,your choice, based on availability, service and price

If you only intend to use it on the mild steels available, cheap-er HSS may do, if used on more exotic steels things will go bang. That said I have had taps that don't tap mild steel as well as centre drills that explode on exotic stuff from an ME show trade stand that Dormer etc are happy to cut.
