Hi guys, hope all's well.

I have a Bambi 75/150 'silent' air compressor I used to use for airbrush work. It has stood idle for a couple of years due to the acquisition of a 50L Clarke machine. I've just powered up the Bambi again in preparation for selling it on and it has developed a severe judder/knock on power-down. It pumps well, oil level is fine, pump mounting rubbers are good and no other obvious nasties.

Has anyone else experienced such a problem? I failed to find anything on www

Many thanks,

Dave..

Hello Dave,

- Check for any water in the tank and drain it if necessary.

- Check the motor and crank bearings for any binding. Probably not a five minute job.

Regards,
Ed.

They are very soft mounted and do wobble at slow speeds. When moving mine it generally rattles a bit. You could have a hunt around for anything flapping about but if it all works I would leave it to it's own devices.

regards Martin

As this unit has a tank.

Is the tank fill valve good?

Last time you used it did it vent pressure (unloader valve) on motor switch off?

It might be if the pump output tube is still under tank pressure the pump is shuddering because it's being braked hard by back pressure from the tank when the motor is turned off.

Just guessing mind you all my comps have been piston or constant bleed without a tank.
