treatment required?

98 forum posts | New V belt for milling machine has just arrived. For once, I treated myself to a genuine Fenner, rather than the usual cheapies. It has come with a very oily/greasy surface , which I haven't encountered before when buying a new belt, and it looks to me like it will slip like *******. Should I clean it off, and if so with what? Or rub it with emery cloth? Or will it be ok. |

7517 forum posts 20 photos | Don’t know, but I do know that some belts are advertised as coming with a thin surface coating. Ask Fenner? Likely the best, easiest and quickest way to sort it out. |

98 forum posts | Thanks, have just emailed them, but I can't see a multinational bothering to reply to a private individual who has bought a £5 item through a 3rd party. |
