Did I imagine that?

Did I really just buy a set of M1 involute gear cutters for £34.49 on offer from Amazon with free shipping and delivery in 3 weeks? Perhaps I imagined it. I couldn't help myself. It was an involuntary burst of mouse clicking and all over before I knew what was happening.

I mean, what's the worst that can happen?

I bought some similar very cheap ones and found they wear quite quickly, OK for a couple of gears but could see the finish going off after that.

I hope they are MOD1 as your image shows 16DP which is close but not MOD1 and the 14.5pa is not usual on MOD cutters. No mention of MOD or DP on Amazon eithercrook

I shall hope for 16DP then, sounds better than MOD1 already.

What material were you cutting to blunt HSS?

Do you think they might be high carbon steel dressed up as lamb?

EN1A on the smaller gears, Larger one was more likely EN3, blunted a lot faster than say the £20 ea RDG ones. Think they were MOD0.5 and about £5 each

If you had looked a bit deeper they are even cheaper, MOD1 and MOD.5
Even if you get hit with 20% VAT still cost very low.

My goodness, your gear pictures make me even more determined to cut involute teeth. What is wrong with me? face 22
