The Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition is scheduled to go ahead from the 14th - 17th October again at the Warwickshire Event Centre.

For those clubs and societies who have already confirmed they will be attending, exhibitor manuals have been sent yesterday to your club co-ordinator by email.

Our website www.midlandsmodelengineering.co.uk contains all the latest information.

We hope to have tickets on sale from mid July.

We look forward to welcoming all of our exhibitors and visitors back again.

Good Afternoon,

It is with deep regret that due to the ongoing uncertainties of Covid-19 pandemic; we have to announce the cancellation of the 2021 Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition which was due to be held at the Warwickshire Event Centre on the 14th-17th October.

This difficult decision is taken despite a real determination by the Meridienne Exhibitions team, trade, clubs, societies, exhibitors and other supporters, all striving to continue to deliver the usual high quality and successful event during this very difficult time.

Over the past few weeks, we have been in the excruciating position of considering every possible scenario to see how we might be able to proceed, but sadly the risks of holding the event now far outweigh the reasons for going ahead. The core decision is based on the escalating cases of COVID-19, and the risks that widespread illness and self-isolation could have on everyone involved. We have navigated our way over the past 16 months through obstacles, but now feel that the odds are stacked against us and we are no longer in a position to be able to proceed safely with the unknown government Covid-19 requirement for Autumn/Winter ahead.

It follows that with our decision to cancel the Midlands Exhibition we have also, again regretfully, decided that it is not practical nor financially viable to proceed with the London Model Engineering Exhibition at Alexandra Palace in January 2022.

Having presented model engineering and other exhibitions for well over 40 years these decisions represent a tremendous disappointment for all but hopefully the situation will be different in later 2022 and we may again present a model engineering exhibition.

We look forward to seeing you all again soon.

The Meridienne Team

I think cancelling both exhibitions is a very wise decision.

Sad to hear this, but fully understand why.

Hopefully next year will see normality return.

Very sad to hear but as one who would be working there, I was having misgivings about going due to the covid numbers going through the roof. The next lock down can't be far away !!! Noel.

Disappointing but not really surprising.

Some things are more important for we exhibitors and visitors, such as being healthy enough to enjoy our hobbies; and it's not as if most of our suppliers can't use postal and Internet mail-order. We should though think too of the organising company and host venues.

As one who had been down to help on a club stand, I admit I was becoming more worried how safe it would be.

I wondered too how the catering could be arranged as the balcony cafeteria is so cramped. (Excellent food though - I tell the dinner ladies I come to the show for my few decent meals of the year!)

Fingers crossed for 2022 then.....

Not just for "our own"; but also for the venues and their staff.

A small very crowded venue full of folk in the vulnerable categories. Notwithstanding vaccination, a sensible decision.

A sad do, but I agree wholeheartedly, John and Noel.

I've just circulated the news to my own society - no tthe entire post, just to announce the cancellation and cite the source (htis site). The members will understand, I am sure.
