On the off-chance that people may find another use for them:

Radiator Keys for 1/4” square are available from HomeBargains at 79p for two.

They are remarkably similar to these: **LINK**

Not a very convincing ‘square’ compared to some alternatives, but that may make them even more adaptable.

You could make your own by forging one.

Making a square intermal shape can be done by drilling a hole in a piece of round bar that just slides over the corners of the spindle on the valve. Then heat the round bar (red hot), insert a piece if square rod with the same size as the spindle and squash it down onto the square rod. Remove the square rod while still hot or it may not come out.

I have a few good quality brass ones on key rings. I did buy a cheap couple for the tool box only to find they were a bit oversized & slipped on well used & bled rads.

In case it’s not obvious ...

I was proposing them as “make from” material, not as radiator keys.
