Hello everyone,

i own a prebuilt Clayton steam wagon 2“. Most of the castings and the boiler are missing. I found out that castings and other parts are available at Blackgates Engineering and Reeves.

Does anyone know if there are differences in the quality of the castings and the other parts like the boiler? Are the castings made both by themselves or are they coming from the same „factory“?

Many thanks!

Thanks for this!

Do you also have experience with the boiler kit? I‘ve seen that blackgates offers a kit with flanged parts...

Hi everyone,

I found two of these casting for my Clayton. Does anyone know what they are for? Are these the pistons?

Could well be - with a chucking piece. Noel.

Coming into this late but they look like the piston castings. I bought the full set of castings, drawings and boiler kit from Blackgates last December. The standard and service was very good. I have completed the wagon and trailer chassis, and am now starting on the chassis spring brackets.

Nice to see that the Clayton is still popular. It was the first steamer that I built when the series was published in M.E.

I made mine as an articulated tanker so that a seat could be attached using the filler cap to secure the seat to the tanker body. It ran very well with two persons on solid ground and coped with short grass as well.
