2661 forum posts 294 photos | The theory here is that there may be a range of superheavy isotopes that remain stable and possibly further stable electron shells well beyond the range of elements currently known to exist naturally. 1817 forum posts 2 photos | As a physicist I have been waiting for 30 years to see if the Island of Stability becomes fact, If it does, then the new elements will be radioactive but half lives may be expected to be measured in years or even greater, The relative stability of this probable island, depends on the construction of the nucleus, not the electron orbitals associated with the nucleus.
