Hello all,

Geoff here from Teesside. We've recently just moved house and I'm now lucky enough to have a shed to work in. Hopefully I can set up a little workshop where I can work on my old stationary engines, and a bit of general tinkering.

I Joined the forum to hopefully learn from other members with regards to a shaper I was given many years ago, but have only just got round to looking at it in more detail.

Sadly it no longer has any of the name plates etc, but I think its an Alba 1A minus the original stand (will need to make one)

It's got a lot of external battle scars which are my main concern, but looks reasonable inside.

It's all stripped down now, but don't want to take the project any further if you good folk think I'll be flogging a dead horse so to speak.

I'll try to include some pictures for you.

Geoff.

Hi Geoff,

Welcome, I am a newcomer to the forum myself but have lived in Middlesbrough (TS1) all my life.

The Alba looks like a nice project, I have seen a couple of restorations on the forum and they look more than worth while. Look forward to seeing your progress.

Hello George/Brian,

Just in Eston so we’re not too far away. Im really looking forward to getting things set up in the workshop and making a start with a few small projects.

My dad and I stripped the Alba down years ago just to make it easier to move. Since then, we seem to have misplaced the gib strips from the tool slide and the vertical table slide. I’m sure they’ll turn up at some point.

Anyway, it’s been good to get a hello off two local lads.

Cheers

Geoff.
