I turned up the steel part that you can see and used a button die to thread it (sorry off the top of my head I can't remember what size metric thread it was) then screwed it in where the factory hex head bolt is. Tightened it up with some vice grip pliers protecting the steel with some offcut copper sheet. |

Ingenious use of cheap ratchet spanner to lock and unlock tailstock! Yes, I’ve been using one of those on my lathe for years. I’ve seen many mods to convert these tailstocks to lever lock but I can’t be bothered! |
