2 forum posts | Joining in from L.A. That is Lower Alabama gulf coast of the US. I am a hobby machinist and fortunate to have a decent shop and equipment kit. I recently began to look into clock making and found this forum. Thanks for being here and look forward to being a member. |

2742 forum posts 39 photos | Welcome aboard Alan, Nice to have some more representation from the far side of the States, I am sure others will join me in saying that you will probably find answers here to questions you may run into. I'm not into clocks being a machine tool man, but there are plenty on this forum who are. Regards Brian |

![]() 2312 forum posts 112 photos | Welcome Alan, your introduction had me fooled, the only L.A. that I know off is a city in Nevada! I'm not very knowledgable on clocks 'though I have made an English Regulator clock to a design by John Wilding. Brian ( in the very middle of England) Edited By BDH on 31/05/2018 19:40:47 |

2 forum posts | Gents, sorry for the joke on location on my first post. Here in the States when one says LA, we usually think of Los Angeles, California. So those of us from the gulf coast area of the state of Alabama, we say LA meaning lower Alabama as a joke. Thanks for the welcomes and I look forward to finding out a bit more on clocks here. |

Gents, sorry for the joke on location on my first post. ... Don't apologise for the joke, more the better! It's true that geographical humour doesn't always travel well. Birmingham (England), a place not to be confused with Birmingham (Alabama), has more canals than Venice (Italy). In consequence Birmingham (England), a sprawling commercial city in the Black Country, is known to us Brits as 'the Venice of the North'. Sadly, no Italian ever calls Venice 'the Birmingham of the South'! Try the joke out in Geneva (Alabama) and see if anyone laughs. It doesn't work in Switzerland...
