Hi everyone.

My father has been a keen model engineer for a very long time and has a cellar full of tools and equipment. He is downsizing to a flat and I have "volunteered" to find homes for some of the machines. These include, for example;
Boley Watchmakers lathe,
Hayes diemaster,
Herbert manual surface grinder,
Myford ML Super 7,
Sensitive bench drill,
Quorn (?),
various micrometers,
Model Engineer magazines going back to the late 1940s.

First of all, should this be in a different forum and if anyone can give me an idea where would be best to sell any of the above and/or if you've got any idea of possible values that would be a great help. Obviously my dad is keen to ensure that all of his machines go to good homes.

Thank you.

Alison

Hi again

For anyone who asked for a location the workshop is in Glasgow.

Hope someone is close by and interested.

was he not a member of any model engineering society? - often these will help and should be able to give you a sensible estimate of the worth based on actual condition - it sounds as though he had quite a bit of valuable equipment.

Good thought! He wasn't a member of a society but I will try to find a local group that may be able to help me.

Thank you

So theres the amount I could afford to pay for it then there is the amount its actually worth

Someone with more expertise could over rule me here but I have seen dealers selling them for about £500. The box and its contents might well push that figure up though.

That Boley looks nice and the collets and step chucks etc all look like they would nicely complement my Lorch. wink
