Hi

I’m hoping that somebody with brazing equipment is willing to help me! The door handle (see photos) is from a 1920’s building and suffered some metal fatigue. I’ve made a repair, which just needs silver soldering into the door handle boss. I’ve tried today with my “plumbers” blow torch, but I can’t get it hot enough to melt the silver solder. Is there somebody in the Yorkshire area (I live in Leeds) who has the correct kit and is willing to help me? The silver solder I’m using (CuP Alloys 455), has a melting point of 630C - 660C

Thanking in anticipation  Tony

Is the handle mild steel, cast steel or cast iron? If you want to pop it in the post I will sort it for you FOC, cant say fairer than that? Nigel - Pendle Steam Boilers (using CUP solder and ten flux).

Hi Keith

Thanks for the prompt, I'll look into it next week. I'm hoping to attend the CuP Alloys on the Road 2018 Club night at Grimsby, on the 17th April. Hopefully I'll be able to say hello there?

Hi Fizzy

Thanks for the offer, I've sent you a private message

Regards

Tony

Antony,

I have sent you another PM

Incidentally, what are the helically aligned punch marks visible on the handle please?

Regards

Brian
