I have been getting increasingly annoyed by poor print quality for the last week or two.

The solution was a nozzle change, I should have realised sooner! The need for it was apparent as soon as I held the old one next to a new one...

Previously I have had the bore of the nozzle wear greatly oversize. This time, although the bore is only slightly enlarged the tip is greatly worn back and this has caused the prints to lose definition. Looking at these pics I'm surprised I go a recognisable print at all!

Hello Neil,

What sort of printer was it? My laser printer has gone all streaky in vertical lines and colour rendering differs from RHS to LHS. Goodness knows how laser printers work!

Andrew.

I believe Neil is referring to his 3D printer.....several clues.

Neil,

Just out of curiosity are 3D printer nozzles sapphire, or just as they appear brass or bronze?

Ordinary ones are just brass, which is why they are about 11p each...

You can get longer-lived stainless steel ones and no doubt carbide ones

A 3D printer

Sounds like your laser might need a new drum, if it has a separate drum and toner cartridge.

A partial cure may be removing the toner cartidge and shaking it, if the toner is getting low.
