Nice to see another Middleton engine, I still class myself as a beginner so it is an ideal engine to have a go at. The last one I built was the Middleton V4, a nice lump of an engine. Don't know if anyone has spotted the deliberate mistake yet!!! Page 286 Engine Frames (Fig 6) "I started with four pieces of 5 X 41/4 inches 3/8 inch thick aluminium plate" Oh! No! you didn't page 288 shows them to be 5 X 41/2 inches Guess what I cut mine to!!! What a numpty! |

If you ask really nicely I can do a special to suit your small bits of ali. Since I spotted that I have cast an eye over the rest and made a few more corrections for Diane so rest should be OK though I have not read the text. |

![]() 442 forum posts 19 photos | Hi JasonB That would be much appreciated, I have not been in the workshop for a few months, due to lots of jobs around the house. I thought this would be the ideal project to get my interest stimulated again. It is a nice looking engine and all bar stock apart from the flywheel, although I have fabricated flywheels, you can't beat a bit of cast iron. I have cut and squared up 4 pieces of aluminium to my wrong dimensions (ho hum!) and only noticed my mistake when I started to mark up the first piece. Thought I was going bonkers, it was getting late so thought, put it down and draw it up on graph paper and try and see what I was doing wrong - that's when i noticed my boo boo. I can probably attach a 1/4 inch piece at the short end somehow on all 4 pieces then mark out again. That will teach me to go racing ahead without my thinking cap on. |

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | The main issue with the frame drawing was that the hole for the valve rocker arm was in the wrong place and the 7/8" height of the lower corner was wrong. I have only shown the wrong items, rest is as per the mag Howi I think you will mave to see if you can add a bit on or move the cylinder mounting hole along a bit as it comes right on the edge, 1/8" further up should do it. but this shows the revised height of the end for a 4.25" frame Edited By JasonB on 02/09/2017 12:47:37 |
