Forgive me if I should post this elsewhere, but failed an attempt in the Classifieds,or if it is acceptable (remove at your leisure)

I posted this here on behalf of my good friend based on a promise he made to a family friend.

This is an Ebay link to the item and the description explains all.-

I would prefer this to reach the people who value these machines and I would buy this if I had the space for another project.

I hope it may be of interest to someone.

Thanks

Richard please pass on the information below it might help with the sale.

- the lathe was made by the Ehrlich company in Germany - that's their logo in the top left corner of the bronze plate with the screw cutting data. You'll find some information about it on the www.lathes.co.uk/ehrlich webpage. They were also sold in the UK under the name of IXL (I've got a gear head version), the webpage for that is http://www.lathes.co.uk/ixl/index.html

Good luck with the sale, the lathes don't seem to be well known in the UK though

Frank told me that this was a German treadle lathe off either a German submarine or a German warship. I cannot find any names or anything to help with this.

So it was the German equivalent of a Drummond M series on the British side

BTW I always say what the reserve price is in the narrative, just so serious bidders know where they are going

I never ever bid on secret reserve price auctions, not worth the effort (and I buy a LOT of stuff on ebay)

Except that it's about twice the centre height and twice the between centres capacity - about 6in. x 40in.

.

Well that narrows it down somewhat. - There was only the Prinz Eugen left on the surface. winkwink

But I think the Americans grabbed that and it ended up rather hot on 2 occasions. surprise
