As R8 collets are made specifically to hold milling cutters with round shanks I think you'll be lucky to find one.

Hmm, - http://www.arceurotrade.co.uk/Catalogue/Collets/R8-Collets/R8-Collets-Square-Metric-Sizes

Sadly 10mm is their largest square collet, could you broach an emergency collet?

Good grief! I still wonder what the application is as I've never seen a milling cutter with square shank or R8 nose other than on a mill. Now I'll just wait for the next reply with details of both!

John,

Although not commonplace ... the R8 is a perfectly realistic option as a lathe collet:

Lots of import "Deckel" style cutter grinders offer R8 collet versions. I keep a few 5C square and hexagon collets for the lathe, I can see a use for them in R8.

Hi

thank you for the replies.

I have a tool grinder which has a small dividing head with R8 fitting.

If i use a 12mm sqaure collets can then easily grind 12mm lathe cutters

thank you

ray
