An addendum on cutter making will appear in a few issues time. The series only describes using it with a parallel hob but as far as I can judge all the parts for using it with a conventional spiral hob are there. I have asked a Jacob's authority to write an article for beginners as none of the several series about these has gone into basic use of the machine in detail 9although a few have gone into advanced use of it!) In the next MEW is the first part of a series on using differential gears for advanced gear cutting. Neil |
