I am trying to make a 1/4 scale wheel hub to a Rudge Whitworth design of a type fitted to Crossley cars. The hub has 60 spokes (2 outer rows of 12 spokes and the inner 2 rows of 18 spokes).

What I am having difficulty with, even with access to a real example, is weather the outer rows of spokes are offset from the centre of rotation. It looks like they are drilled on centre line but the car owner thinks they are offset. It is extremely hard to tell because the spokes are bent by about 120 degrees as they exit the hub.

Can anybody enlighten me if they are meant to be offset and by how much.

HI Bob,

best thing to do would be to find a firm that is capable of re spoking ur rim, I'm sure they will know.....

Central wheel Services comes to mind, they are on the nett, Birmingham, I think, not quite sure.......there will be others tho....

get lucky, Clogs

Have you tried the Crossley Register?

I have left a message with a wheel maker/repairer to ask advice and am awaiting his reply. Might give the register a try too.

Hi Bob

Have posted your request on the Rudge bike site. Perhaps some of the technical lads might have the info.

Hi Jimmie,

I think I have sufficient information on the wheel spoke pattern now. I have found a good few photo's after searching the web and will be able to scale from them.
