Any advice on a suitable flexible mastic suitable for sealing between the skirting and floor. A few years I used ? which has gone brittle and now is falling apart. Was thinking of Soudal Acryrub but can't get locally (N Ireland) and p&p is telephone numbers. Many thanks. Jim |

Congratulations on a wonderful build which must have caused some head scratching at times. I find such 'restorations' much more exciting that those which tend to stick to the original designer's thoughts. Jim |

Some folk may be interested in a report in today's Belfast Telegraph paper. 'The North West 200 and all motorcycle road races, short circuit and trials events in Northern Ireland have been cancelled for 2023 due to crippling Public Liability insurance costs. The decision was reached at an emergency meeting of the Motor Cycle Union of Ireland (Ulster Centre) on Thursday night. National road races were facing an increase of three times more than they paid in 2022, with clubs looking at costs of more than £50,000. It is understood that the body responsible for motorcycle racing in the Republic of Ireland, Motorcycling Ireland, is also facing a similar scenario after being unable to find an insurance company willing to provide cover.'

Another general guide to the restoration of, as the young daughter of a fellow vintage enthusiast once described, 'rusty rubbish'. Jim PS anyone have a guide to converting a NSU Max into a Sportmax replica? Or even photos of same. |
Thread: Anyone have experience of PIV (Positive Input Ventilation) |
16/01/2023 15:49:17 |
Vic, the company quoted a daily running cost over a year equal to a 60 watt bulb running 24/7 which included the pre-heat element which switches on when the external air temp falls to 10C or below. Although it seems too good to be true.the company has been in business for years. so should know the facts. Again it depends on how long the winter lasts etc. Jim |

Despite good (in the sense of powerful) extractors in the kitchen plus bathroom we still have steamed up windows on a cool morning. There is no damp as such in the building. A friend fitted PIV 18 months ago and has found it very good in reducing condensation overall. Have any 'members' thoughts on it. The system I am thinking of is sold by https://www.beamcentralsystems.com/Beam-Product-Brochure.pdf Jim |

Thread: Removal of a grub screw from a mixer tap assemble. |
17/11/2022 10:44:15 |
Many thanks for the kind replies. Despite trying all the tips the tap had to come off after which I was asked 'is it not time we got another tap'?' Sods law at work. Jim |
14/11/2022 21:33:00 |
I need to replace the hot water cartridge of my mixer tap (Blanco Max)) and am finding it impossible to remove the grub screw which secures the cover in place despite it being fully loosened (it should be having turned it over 30 times) with a 2.5 hex key as advised by Blanco's Tech Dept..The screw is opposite the handle, i.e. at the bottom or rear depending on whether the tap in closed or open so access is very restricted. I have tried tapping using a block of wood without success and would prefer not to have to remove the tap if at all possible. Any and all advise would be appreciated. Jim |
