Fair ground gallopers

hi All

I will be finishing my 2 in Scale Showmans engine some time next year I would like to construct a set of gallopers in keeping with the engine does any person supply drawings for one or horses or other items etc , many years ago I saw one which was about 2 metres in dia along with 2 Showmans engines it made a very impressive outfit any help appreciated Derek

Can anyone suggest a way forward for this as I have seen some in model engineering exhibitions so there must be plans etc somewhere

Just a hunch really, but you could start with checking a place that specialises in this type of Modelling. They mention Plans, but not sure of scale. You could always Upscale.

Many thanks for information have made contact they do a 1/12 scale set of plans so I would be able to scale up

Many of the original Gallopers were made by Savages and powered by a centre mounted Savage steam engine and some are still in working condition, I seem to remember seeing an article in an old ME but not certain any plans were included. Going this route would certainly keep your model authentic.

(King's) Lynn Museum. has photographs, ledgers, templates, catalogues and works drawings, as well as a unique collection of 30,000 wooden engineering patterns and engineering drawings for the fairground and agricultural machinery produced by Savages This collection can be viewed by appointment with the Curator. Thanks for all your help I have made contact with rousemans models but I feel I should visit Kings Lynn museum next year as on making contact they were most helpful
