I need two left hand and two right hand cylinder drain cocks, 5/16x32 thread. Thing is I want them with handles and not linkage points (they are for my 7 1/4 Invicta). Stuart sell nice ones but not in this thread size and I don't want to sleeve the hole as the DC which would fit would be very small. Any ideas please?

Price might make you think again, RA Baker do that size thread but with levers and they are £25 a pop so you would be looking in the region of £100 for a set if you could find them. I can only think of Stuarts who do the handle type.

Best thing to do is when you machine the taper on the spindles is to also machine a reamer or D bit at the same topslide setting which should give you a good matching taper that needs very little lapping.

These ones I did for the Tidman seem to seal OK

Used the same method for teh Fowler ones

Good write up on making teh Stuart type over on MEM

Made the drain cocks and water gauge cocks for my Atkinson lorry using JasonB's method and was well pleased with how well they works - go for it.
