Thread: Centec milling machine NT30 chuck.
23/08/2023 10:35:16

I had the same problem needing one for my Tom Senior horizontal spindle (Int30). I already had a Clarkson Autolock chuck so turned up a couple of adapters to take the various slitting saws I had.

Thread: Adjustable Feet on Heavy Machine Tools (not lathes)

Had the problem of uneven floor in worshop and so used the anti vibration machine pads from RDG. My Tom Senior mill is as solid as a rock.

Thread: Canterbury Lamb

Mike and Noel, thanks glad you like it.

Waiting for some transfer paper to arrive so I can put a name on it. Also waiting for the weather to improve here in Portugal so I can paint my other models.

Thanks for the info Dave will have a look at the sites to see what I can make.

Recently finished the this loco, and have run in on air and steam. The correct safety valve I can't get to stop leaking so temporally fitted a working one.

Want to build a small 3 1/2 inch garden track for it. Living in Portugal I am worried that using coal there is a risk in the summer of starting a fire if any cinders / ash set fire to the dry grass etc. Therefore would like to gas power it. Been looking on the internet for designs for a small gas burner but can't find any. Anyone ever come across any.

Thread: Boxford Shaper Vertical feed
04/08/2022 21:07:37

Mines a bit smoother round the edges - but still a bit rough looking.

Maybe a welding apprentice did a job lot on Friday afternoon

Just checked - it is just a knurled screw which locates in the two holes in the rotating pawl bit.

Thread: Boxford Shaper Vertical feed
07/07/2022 12:47:55

Have just had a look at mine.

The two ratchet wheels are identical, size and tooth count.

The gear on the left is 26 tooth and 1.4 inches dia., so that makes it 20DP gear.

And almost certainly 14.5 PA

The feed mechanism looks nothing like my Mk2 Boxford.

I have the vertical feed on mine. Will take some measurements tomorrow, unless some else beats me to it.

Thread: Dividing head for Tom Senior Mill advice

Likewise, have a Senior "Major" mill and can recommend the BSO. Use it quite a lot for cutting spur gears and with the tilt facility on the BS0 have done lots of bevel gears.

Thread: 1/12 scale beam engine
06/03/2022 14:35:58

I run my Stuart Beam engine, and all my other little engines, from a Revell air brush compressor (quite running with a reservoir tank). Can get it going nice and slow at about 5 psi.

Thread: Is there a Gitzo tripod expert in the house ?
24/08/2021 10:40:19

I have the same problem with both my Gitzo's. Do them up finger tight and still a bugger to undo again. Like you have lubed them to no avail. I think as Bob S said so well built that the legs never collapse on you. Just as well with a heavy expensive camera attached.

Thanks to all, glad you like the little engine.

MichaelG - flat four Oscillator maybe............

Decided to build the Elmers No42 engine. Them I thought why have only one cylinder when you can have two. The result my Elmers Twin Oscillator.

Followed the plans as much as I could, but used materials that I already had rather buy more.

model engine02.jpg

Have had it running on 10psi from my airbrush compressor.

Now just got to strip it down and paint the rest of it

Can only agree with Norman. Used them for many years. Quality service and supplies.

Thread: Confusing t-slot dimensions

I must admit I did buy a couple of t-nuts that sort of fitted the mill to get started.
