It is identified as: S4 X2A 1000 Patent Number 2096510 The patent gives a good idea of how it works in principle. Unfortunately [and almost inevitably] I do not have the Power Supply. Sadly; Although 36v, that's just a simple DC supply As you will see from the ebay listing that I linked, the Desoutter connector has a lot of pins ... and I believe all or most of them are connected. ... 344 forum posts | You'll need a circuit diagram and components list to have any chance of replicating the manufacturer’s PSU. Sourcing the parts would also be a problem.

893 forum posts | What type of plug has the drill got and can you send a picture. Its not difficult to make a DC power supply suitable for your power tool, that's if it is DC,the voltage regulation is not critical. If it is DC, then you will need a transformer, rectifier, a capacitor and a metal box to mount the bits in. I don't know any thing about Desoutter, but some of the body building power tool work on 400 Hz AC supply they are induction motors, not much bigger than air operated type power tools. John

Sorry folks: I think I might be wasting everyone's time ... There is a block diagram of the control electronics on the patent drawing [linked in my opening post] but no details. ... I was hoping that someone had a circuit diagram, or a photo, that would help me decide if an Arduino-based controller was feasible. With hindsight, it may be best to wait for a bargain ESP-5 box to turn-up somehere. MichaelG. . Edit: This video is the most informative I have found so far.
