Grasshopper Beam Engine, Brunell

I've just picked up what appears to be a full set of castings and drawings for the Brunell Grasshopper Beam, can anyone point me in the direction of any build threads, notes or books if they exist please?

I've done a fair bit of search engine trawling and come up with a Youtube video of one running on air, a couple of old threads commenting on it, plus Brunell's casting list and not much else,

I've had a brief scan over the plans which consist of 3x sheets, and there seems to be a lack of detail, some components are drawn with no indication of what they are or where they go, and some without dimensions,
I do need to dig more deeply into the plans yet because stuff seems to be all over the place,

There are two build series that may help. The first is in Enginering In miniature which is for the Anthony Mount/ Polly version. The other is in Model Engineer back in the late 1950s, early 1960s and was I think described by Sidney somebody or other and may well be the one the Brunel one was based on.

The polly/bruce one David mentions is not the same engine but another grasshopper, if you want a build thread of a grasshopper then mine or Don's may be useful

I particularly like yours Jason. Useful. It's a bit like people who avoided buying castings for tooling even though at that time prices were very affordable. Personally on the larger engines in particular I feel that the castings have become "rather" over priced.

For tooling it was mild steel and a stick welder tidied up with car body filler.

I use that method on the models as well
