343 forum posts 36 photos | I've just picked up what appears to be a full set of castings and drawings for the Brunell Grasshopper Beam, can anyone point me in the direction of any build threads, notes or books if they exist please? I've had a brief scan over the plans which consist of 3x sheets, and there seems to be a lack of detail, some components are drawn with no indication of what they are or where they go, and some without dimensions, Many thanks in advance, John. |

![]() 3357 forum posts 112 photos 10 articles | There are two build series that may help. The first is in Enginering In miniature which is for the Anthony Mount/ Polly version. The other is in Model Engineer back in the late 1950s, early 1960s and was I think described by Sidney somebody or other and may well be the one the Brunel one was based on. |

3631 forum posts 160 photos | I particularly like yours Jason. Useful. It's a bit like people who avoided buying castings for tooling even though at that time prices were very affordable. Personally on the larger engines in particular I feel that the castings have become "rather" over priced. For tooling it was mild steel and a stick welder tidied up with car body filler.
