![]() 19226 forum posts 749 photos 86 articles | Hello! I'm Neil Wyatt and I'm the editor of Model Engineers' Workshop. I'm not really an engineer, I'm an ecologist, but I have had a 'workshop' since I was about 14, although I was in my mid thirties before I had a lathe. Because my skills and patience for finishing and painting aren't every good my interest is in making working models, tools and items to support my other hobbies which include model boats, electronics, making music, photography, astronomy with occasional dabbles in plastic modelling, 00 gauge railways and crashing model aircraft. My workshop is probably best described as 'relatively well-equipped budget'. Bigger machines are a much-abused and much modified mini-lathe, an X2 mill, pillar drill, bandsaw, linisher, bench grinder and a home made tool and cutter grinder (not a Quorn!) Many of my accessories are home made - they sometimes end up costing more than buying a finished item, but I enjoy the satisfaction of using things I've made myself. I live in Staffordshire, in easy range of some great industrial museums and sources of useful offcuts, as well as the glorious Peak District and not too far from Wales

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | As this is a topic heading and not a thread can I ask all new (and it seems existing) members to start a new thread within this topic as just about every other forum that has this subject does. Also if you could copy and past you intro into your profile that would please a lot of people. I will move Gary's one. Edited By JasonB on 14/11/2015 11:53:27 |
