Hi,

I would be grateful if someone could let me know the size of the John Haining 3" Suffolk Dredger cylinders and the type of valve gear.

Many thanks,

Mark

If you don't get a reply soon, I might be able to dig out the drawings. I think some of them are marked up with the wrong scale.

Hello David,

Thanks for that. I'm pretty sure that it has Stephenson's valve gear but the dimensions elude me.

1 3/8" bore, 1 1/2" stroke, Stephenson.

Are you sure the stroke is 1 1/2", pretty much the same as the bore?

Mark,

The crankshaft drawing appears on page 279 of ME volume 146 (7 March 1980) and shows a throw of 3/4". Page 538 (2 May 1980) of the same volume shows the twin cylinder block with bores of 1 3/8".

Chris.
