Thread: Copper boiler |

Brian, It is a lovely old boiler built by Alec Farmer in 1966. It is 6" diameter and stands about 13" tall with about 40 tubes. These boilers were built to last. Regards, Mark |

Hello Brian, Thanks for that. I just wanted to make sure before I take the plunge. Regards, Mark |

Hello, I have a coal-fired copper boiler which has been painted black, not particularly well I would hasten to add. Will it be in order to remove the paint with 'Nitro Mors'. Will this product adversely affect the copper and/or bushes? Many thanks, |

Hello David, Thanks for that. I'm pretty sure that it has Stephenson's valve gear but the dimensions elude me. Mark |

Hi, I would be grateful if someone could let me know the size of the John Haining 3" Suffolk Dredger cylinders and the type of valve gear. Many thanks, Mark |

Hi, I don't suppose anyone knows if drawings are available for the 3 1/2" Gauge Kerr Stuart "Tamar" 0-4-2T? I have seen a 7 1/4" locomotive to this design, so there may be something available in 7 1/4" gauge. Many thanks, Mark |

Hi, I would like to build a small (3" diameter) vertical coal-fired boiler for a Stuart 10V engine. Does anyone know of drawings to suit this project? It would need to be a simple design. Many thanks, |
Thread: Pride of Penrhyn Steam Wagon drawing and construction notes |
21/10/2014 20:22:17 |
Hi, I've recently bought a part built Winsons/Modelworks 2" Scale Pride of Penrhyn Steam Wagon. I don't suppose any knows where I might source the drawings and construction notes? I've tried Engineers Emporium and Steam Traction World but they are unable to throw any light on a source. I'm sure there must be someone out there who has or knows of someone who might be kind enough to photocopy. I will obviously reimburse for any costs. Do they steam well when complete? Many thanks, Mark |

Thread: Warco WM 180 |
21/04/2014 10:01:43 |
Hi, I would be grateful for some advice. I have a Warco WM180 lathe and was thinking of fitting a vertical slide for milling. Does Warco sell a vertical slide that fits straight onto the cross slide without having to start drilling holes to accommodate the slide? Also, will a backplate need to be machined to take the collet chuck? It may be that others have had experience with these issues? Many thanks, Edited By Mark Salzedo on 21/04/2014 10:02:45 |
Thread: Painting a copper boiler |
09/03/2014 12:14:29 |
Hi, Rather a basic questionn but what is the best type of paint to spray onto a copper boiler? Am I limited to black paint or are other colours available too? Presumably, it is just a matter of degreasing and drying the copper boiler and then spraying? Many thanks, |
