Threads ME vs BSW

I recently ordered some ME taps and dies. The 5/32" x 32 I received was marked BSW rather than ME.

As I have always had excellent service from this particular supplier, I assume that 5/32" x 32 ME and BSW are identical. Is that correct?

If so, in general, are all ME and BSW threads of the same pitch and diameter equivalent?

Thanks,
Clive

Clive,

The ME series of threads are either 32tpi or 40tpi, for all sizes.

5/32" 32tpi is a valid ME thread, but ...

Useful table here

5/32 BSW and 5/32*32 ME are identical, as are 1/8 BSW and 1/8 * 40ME

Duncan, thanks for the speedy response, and MichaelG thanks for the link to those very useful tables.

And the reason that they are identical is that BSW, BSF, ME (and the 26 tpi constant pitch series) are all 55 degree thread form rather than the 60 degrees of the metric, US and unified series.
