What is the maximum size vice recommended for a Sieg SX3L mill?

Also what is the max weight?

I use a 100mm machine vice on my SX3. Sometimes wish it was bigger but good for most jobs. Also have a 50mm toolmakers vice for smaller precision work. A 125mm wide vice would also fit but would not go any bigger.

Paul.

Hi Mark,

I agree with Paul, I use a 100mm vice on my milling machine, it covers most of the work I do. A bigger vice may be handy for some jobs, for these occasions you can make a two piece vice as described on Harold Hall's website. You can buy two piece vices from Chronos, scroll down this page.

The sneak preview of the next MEW lists a "table length milling vice" as a new project.. Could be handy for those bigger jobs.
