41 forum posts 1 photos | Hi, when mounting a myford vertical milling slide on my super 7 cross slide I detected a noticeable tightening in the movement of the cross slide which would suggest distortion. I wouldn't say i over tightened so was surprised by this, anyone else come across anything like this ? Thanks |

I made a new adaptor plate that fits on the crosslide the same way as the topslide on a S7. Its much nicer and easier to use as the original one and cured the problem (almost) complete. Niko. I also replaced the weedy original tie down bolt with a solid steel t-bolt which has a nice thick tee Newer models of the vertical slide have 2 t-nuts(or bolts) which spreads the load and has better twist resistancee

41 forum posts 1 photos | Thanks for the input, I suspect a bit of swarf/debris, I'm sure it wouldn't need much. Both lathe and slide are not new so perhaps if a good clean does not sort it out then a thorough check for flatness. |
