Can anybody help please, I have been offered a Star Turn at a reasonable price. I would like to make sure the chuck has the same fitting as my Bantam (D1-3). If anybody has the overall dimensions for the lathe they would be helpful too. Thanks.

Mark; Have you tried asking on the Denford forum ? , they have a team who are normally capable of answering most questions in regard to machines manufactured in the past by the company.

Regards,

David.

No, they're not the same.

The Starturn 8 was based on the Emco 8 lathe and has a similar spindle nose to the Emco, but in a modified incompatible form.

Hi Mark

1 thread on the Denford Forum says spindle nose on the Starturn 4 is threaded 18mm same as old spark plug.

Bore through the spindle is stated 10mm in the manual so unlikely to have a D1-3 nose.

Nothing like a D1-3, chucks and or 80mm adapter plates are screwed on.

Very similar are the Boxfords.

Apologies, its an Easiturn, I think that makes it a completely different beast! I did manage to find some sales information on Scribes site that also gives me the overall dimensions. the best bit, it will fit into the workshop without too much hassle. thanks for the reply's and I'm sorry I sent you on a wild goose chase.
