196 forum posts 2 photos | How about a robot for exploring the sea bed? That's the sea bed and not the bottom of a paddling pool, so there would be considerable challenge in designing and making the vehicle, especially where it has to withstand reasonable pressure and go deep enough to get to the bottom of a typical harbour. It should have a steerable camera, and a way of sending video and/or telemetry back to the operator. That's a not inconsiderable challenge. It should be steerable, of course, but it might have some intelligence of its own (it depends on the focus of your project, whether it is mechanical, electronic or computing-orientated). Or you could assume a submersible and just focus on the command and control and telemetry and autonomous exploration, although that would miss out part of the challenge. You might need to simplify it in that way, though, for a project with a deadline. It is easy to do this kind of thing on the land, and quite common now to do it from the air, but under water is not so easy.

See this site for an example. http://www.km.kongsberg.com/ks/web/nokbg0240.nsf/AllWeb/D5682F98CBFBC05AC1257497002976E4?OpenDocument Try a project in a field, which you have a actual interest in. If you like music then a autonomous band playing actual instruments, if you like politics a vast autonomous fan that blows hot air ever where to no effect. you get the picture. Good luck my Thesis was about ECA, Embodied Conversational Agents. |

I am Student of Bachelor in Electronic Engineering in Final year starting, I want to select my Final Year Project and I have my passion in Robotics, can anyone please suggest me a great project. . Welcome to the forum, Khalil Given your interest in Robotics ... What about developing an assistive device, with a haptic interface, to adapt a manual lathe or mill ? A number of the forum members are less able-bodied than we were [whether by accident or ageing], and I feel sure that there would be some interesting discussion. Note: I am not suggesting a "CNC conversion" ... more of a "Remote Control with Sensory Feedback". MichaelG. |

One that monitors the depth, efficiency and speed of cut and applies an optimal downwards pressure, and also starts cut automatically and lifts the blade at the end of the cut, or can even be programmed to do a precise partial cut. Requires feedback on blade speed, motor speed (make it controllable) motor current, blade position, and control over blade position. Neil

8 forum posts | My best advice is to choose a project you are likely to see through to completion. This will do you more good than being over-ambitious and not reaching a satisfactory outcome. Show what you can do, not what you can't. Take advice from your tutors. I've seen students get carried away with software and motors and wiring, leaving too little time at the end to write up the all important report. Be clear at the outset about relative importance of each element of the deliverables expected of you. And good luck !

69 forum posts | I fear that part of the education and training course that you are on is to think of an idea for yourself. What you can then do is to use entrenched wisdom of this forum to suggest how practical a project you have decided on and if it it likely to be completed within your time allowance. Again, I guess that solving the problems is essentially down to you with the guidance of your tutors. Sorry to appear a bit negative but you can only benefit from your own learning experience.
