2 forum posts | Has anyone been able to use this app under Windows 8? My attempts have failed. After downloading it's not at all clear how to launch the software. I did find a very clumsy work around through Windows explorer. But then after downloading an issue of ME, and re-launching the software in offline mode, the previously downloaded issue has disappeared! I actually think of myself as pretty computer savvy, but the offline reader has got me stumped! Any hints appreciated. |

2 forum posts | Very curious. Should the icon be a tile in the list of programs on the new W8 main screen, or as a shortcut on the desktop? I keep looking... perhaps I should just try to reinstall the works. |

Only works if you took out the subscription through Myhobbystore, if you subscribed direct via Pocketmags, newstand, etc then you won't get the archive. J
EDIT. I have just logged in as you and been able to view the back issues of ME, can you check your subscription number for MEW as it is not showing an expiry date, if MEW subscription is current you will also be able to see those back issues.

10 forum posts | I have had auto renewal subscriptions for ME and MEW for 18 months, but can still only access ME through the pocketmag system. MEW simply does not appear in the drop-down list. How could it be delivered twice a month if I have no subscription? Despite numerous emails they cannot help other than to keep telling me that i have to register for a pocketmags account. How then could I access ME if I had not already done that? Their last suggestion was to contact the publishers. After 18 months I have lost the will to live now, and dare not upgrade to W 8 if it causes even more problems.
I'm going to the Pub!!

![]() 19226 forum posts 749 photos 86 articles | Hi Derek You may be using a pre-digital subs number for your MEW/Pocketmags account. Your print&digital subscriber number will be on the envelope your MEW comes in, above the address, should be 10 digits. If you aren't sure of the new number email [email protected] with your name and address (very important) and they will confirm your new subs number. Neil |

10 forum posts | Hello Neil My thanks for your message. I took out both subscriptions at the same time which is what has puzzled me, but next time I get the magazine delivered I will compare the number on it's wrapper with what I have on record. Hopefully this will help sort out the problem. Having the issues permanently stored would be a great help as our wifi does not work well in the garage/shed, and the printer has given up the ghost! Seasons greetings to all Derek |

1719 forum posts 1 photos | I can confirm that the Pocketmags reader works fine under Win8.1 .... well, rather than "fine" perhaps I should say "as intended". Windows 8.0 too. How you actually launch it under that awful new Windows-8 front-end is anyone's guess though. I got rid of that fiasco (well, overlaid it actually) from day-1 with Windows Classic Shell and can launch the reader the same way as any other program that we have been used to for years. |
