Private sellers can be worst of all. I bought a used brushed mini lathe motor through the ME reader ads as a spare from an elderly gent. When I eventually came to use it, two of the windings were blown. Now that is a dirty trick.. Neil I bought a microphone (eBay seller) - couldn't get it to work, checked all the wiring and nothing found. Stripped it down - no mic insert. Now that is a dirty trick... Steve

Neil Another what I think is a despicable trick and we all finish up paying for it happened on the UK.rec.crafts.metalworking forum some years ago when it was popular.
Guy comes on and asks if anyone has one of the 7" core drills as he needs to drill one hole for a waste pipe. Anyway no takers as either no one had or he was too far away.
So later he posts " Sorted - went to B&Q, bought one, went home, drilled the wall then took it back and told them it wasn't fit for purpose and got my money back "
Another case I can attest to is I sent a board out for a CNC I had built as the guy said the old one had burnt out, why I have no idea but was suspicious.
Couple of weeks later he reckons that one has packed in as well so asked for it back for checking and I'd send another new board out. When the board came back it wasn't the board I'd sent as I had made a very slight mark on the board so I knew. What I was getting back was the original and this scumbag was trying to get a spare board at my expense. Told him in no uncertain terms to go forth hence and replicate but only using two words, one beginning with F
The vast majority of people I deal with are decent upstanding citizens but you always get the few who can't stop pissing about with something until they break it and then say "I didn't do that, it's not fit for purpose, distant selling regulations and all that crap "
It doesn't matter how well you explain things, write it out and lay it out 5 out of 10 people won't follow the instructions. Take this board and pick a subject where someone is asking for help on a subject. Out of 10 replies you will get 11 answers and out of those 11 answers 5 are not even relevant to the subject. Happened the other day, guy with a Super 7 problem wanted some help. Some twonk then goes on to say how it works on his ML7 which is totally different.
OK rant over |

![]() 858 forum posts 215 photos | Question. Where are the Axminster, Warco, Amadeal , Clarke, Chester reps contributions? This thread has been running for over a year, the core topic is electronic speed controls and motors for chinese hobby machines. Are Arc the only people that know or care about this stuff ?

1723 forum posts | It all takes time. It took long enough for the Taiwanese to vacuum impregnate the lecky motors to stop them "Singing". First job in UK was to fit a Blitish jobby.
Regards Ian.
AND empty part of Taiwan out of the castings. (Must be written into the production control sheets somewhere) Edited By Circlip on 16/01/2016 12:49:04 |

Steve .
Dunno but after a year someone ought to kill this thread and bury it before it crawls off on it's own. |

17 forum posts | good point Steve : ) I approached ARC as I had no interest from Axminster, not seen any posts from Axminster on this, or any defence of there customer service, I am sure as Ketan said, there are many stereotypes of customers, in my case I am a time served engineer and 25 years a machinist , I have worked multi axis CNC mills, and I run my own engineering design business, In short I know what I am doing... the mills in question are sold as HOBBY mills and IMO probably would get more abuse than the pro ones as you will have a steep learning curve as a novice, even though the limits of drill/mills are advised It would seem the early mills had little in the way of torque reaction control, the latest boards are way better in terms of tech, the sad thing is you need to replace ALL the hardware at once if it fails as none of the parts are compatible, I have now fitted trip switches to all the 240v plugs on Ketans advice to help with any issues with power supply and so far so good, but machine placement bares consideration here, a damp shed is not a warm garage, and I also heat the shed before use we have to consider even the basic prototrak mills I used in my business are hardy machines, and I ran one all day for 7 years without any issues, but it cost me the best part of 10k secondhand, with the better mini mills coming in at way over Seig, Seig are considered great value IMO if you know there limits, with updated boards they are a great buy, and it seems to me in my experience Ketan goes a long way to keeping his customers happy Axminster on the other hand seem to care little, maybe its just a hope that most customers wont bother returning there items, or maybe I just caught someone on an off day ; ( but in the long run, I think Ketans attitude will pay off in the end, I rarely use Axminster these days, I would however prefer to give ARC my money as I respect there values so the latest mills are a big improvement and it must be noted my boards were the first ones, so not a reflection of the latest stuff, I would not hesitate to buy another SX3, the tech at this end of the market is moving constantly and no doubt improves all the time, I see little out there to compete with Seig at these prices, but I would say choose your seller wisely : ) |
