Dav id,

I subscribed to the archive, which I think is just wonderful.  There is a small problem in that some of the back issues don't appear as they would have in original print form.  For  instance, Issue 4 shows page 2 as being part way through an article, and the table of contents appears on about page 37 or so.

I use Mozilla Firefox as a web browser because it is far less prone to virus attacks than the Microsoft stuff (unfortunately for Mr Gates).  Is thjis a browser problem or a problem relaed to the original file?

Hi Steve Garnett,

I notice a couple of blank messages up there. It's possible you are replying to mine and are having trouble inserting a link. If this is what's happening, and in case you haven't noticed, there is an icon at the top of the "Post a reply:" box which purports to let you include a link (hover the mouse over the icons for a description).

Or perhaps that's what you did and it doesn't work?

Hehe! Perhaps you should look at the end of page 3, and you'll find out what happened - and you'll find the link you are looking for there too in the previous post. All the following blank posts are up for removal if the moderator chooses to - the system swore blind that it wouldn't accept them, but it was plainly not telling the truth...

Thanks, Steve.

I tried the link. It still only gives me the first two pages of the archive (Issues 122-159). It worked fine for me for the first two days of my subscription but then pages 3 and up "went away".

I hadn't reckoned on you posting an explanation for the blank messages in an *earlier* message. (I must get me one of those time-machine contraptions).

The only thing that I can think of that's obvious to check is that there's still a subscriber number for MEW (Digital) in 'Your Details'. If there's a subscriber number for the paper edition only, then the first two pages would be all you'd see anyway.

Yeah, I came to the same conclusion and I'd checked that. I also tried logging off and on again. Guess I'll just have to wait for the new year.

Hi David,

Merry Christmas!

No, it's still the same ... just the first two pages. I tried logging off then on again.

Now, back to the festivities ....

Hi Sid
No luck.
Nothing obviously wrong.
Checked your account which is why you were logged out.

Hi David,

Thanks for checking anyway. I suspect there's other stuff I'm not seeing too. For example, the "World of Model Engineering" files, I can only see  parts 3 & 4 of each issue which I'm guessing is all that non-subscribers would see.

It looks like the system has lost my subscriber status (even though everything is there in my profile).

Hi all,
I've just subscribed to digital back copies. I can't read the things, either to small as loaded or if I click to magnify everything is out of focus. Anybody else getting this problem? Is there a fix?
Regards Kenny

Hi Kenny,

Once you zoom in on a page, it should re-load after a few seconds and become a lot clearer.  Sometimes this takes up to seconds in my experience.

Anthony

Hi Anthony,
Thanks for your reply. I have just tried again, it does come into focus eventually, but it's like going back to dial up speed, maybe there are a lot of members on line this morning.

Thanx again.

Regards,

Kenny

Hi There
1 and 2 would be for anyone, 3 and 4 subscribers only.
Don't forget they drop of the list and you need to search for them.

Hi!

There was supposed to be some example documents to view without having to subscribe. Where are they?
I can see two out of four documents having issue beneath the images but these are not the oldest ones.
File problem here as well?

Best Regards

Hi David,

Well the WOME parts 1 & 2 are back again for me today - right next to 3 & 4 in each case, no need to go to subsequent pages. Weird.

I'm curious .... is all this stuff on a single server or are there multiple servers involved (which might explain some of the weird happenings).
