There wont be a forum in 10 years time...everyone will be dead, senile or too poor to participate! And I really mean this....not to mention the fact that no one will know how to opperate a non cnc machine.

Bollocks.

Regards,

Tony

I second that so that's two bollocks.

Anyone notice that mark C has come on to this group, actually been on a while but now started posting of drawing Andrews gear.

OK not everyone's cup of tea but it's new life, that's how forums evolve.

Three people have been mentioned but how many others have stopped posting [ as opposed to leaving ] and not been noticed ?

How many lurkers are out there for whom this forum is of great interest but they feel they have nothing to contribute ?

Well I'm certainly not going to admit to being a 'Lurker' John (and it might be illegal these days anyway!)

But I am sure there are lot's of us who read the Forum and probably could answer many of the more basic questions posed here - except that someone else has already done so more than adequately.

There are more specialist questions (machine specific, more advanced machining stuff etc.) that will need more specialist experience (e.g. access to that bit of kit for instance - or working experience of a particular technique) but I don't see any real shortage of help in these area either quite frankly.

So, I don't know what kicked this thread off - but there you go - we all have out own views on the world as we see it..

Regards,

IanT

Well, I am one who used to log in every day until a couple of years back. I dropped out mainly because of the last editor of ME. I had sent in a number of articles, which from here in NZ via airmail costs a bit of money. So as I had done in the past, I requested that I be notified by email of their arrival. I never received any acknowledgement, and when I followed up with a PM on this site, received vague unhelpful replies. So I came to the conclusion that the articles had been binned and that the editor did not give a toss about whether he ever received any more. Note that while it is certainly the editors perogative to reject an article, it would have at the least been polite to acknowledge their arrival. A short email costs very little time or money. Anyway the whole thing left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, so I dropped out. I've only popped in a few times to see if anything of interest has come up.

John
